   I'm Pete Driscoll, a professional scrimshaw artist, i.e., an engraver; welcome to my  website. If the word "Engraving" is a new word to you, I define it as cutting into (by hand) any form of antique or fossilized Ivory, then inking and repolishing the Ivory.  My specialty is creating a custom work of heirloom art, just for you!

   Allow me tell you a little about myself, and the work I do. My training and career as a commercial lithographer taught me skills related to doing detailed work on lithographic film that was used to make printing plates (this was in the B.C. era -- Before Computers). This hand-eye dexterity is invaluable in the process that is employed toENGRAVE the various forms of recycled, antique, or fossilized Ivory.

   I've been engraving Ivory full time for ten years, and have produced more than 1,700 original works of art, all on Ivory. They may be found in private and public collections throughout the US. You will find many works on this web site, in several different categories. Some are for sale, in stock and ready to ship; others are commissioned works which have been sold, they are diplayed as examples of my work. Others you will see are available in one of the seven galleries in which my work is represented. You may explore these galleries in the the FAQs and LINKS catagory.
